About the owl Local artist and children’s illustrator, Beccy Blake has brought Mowlberry Beak to life. Mowlberry is decorated with a beautiful mulberry tree packed with details of life in Combe Down, Foxhill and Bath. Local historical figures, Harry Patch and Ralph Allen gaze out from Mowlberry’s eyes, while details from Combe Down’s stone mining past and its links with the military can be found among his feathers. Artist Beccy Blake said: “It's been great fun researching all the lovely memories and historical facts from local Combe Down and Foxhill people. I was honoured to be chosen to decorate Mowlberry Beak - I hope everyone likes him!"

About the artist Beccy has been a freelance children's illustrator since leaving the University of Northumbria in Newcastle-upon-Tyne with a BA(hons) in graphic design and illustration. She has worked extensively in the fields of publishing, design and advertising, editorial, greetings cards and one-off commissions and exciting art projects for a number of clients both here in the UK and overseas. She mainly works in pencil, crayon, acrylics, pen and ink and also digital media, often combining the two. Clients include: Egmont Children's Books, The Independent, BBC Worldwide, Hachette Children’s books and more….
Where? Mulberry Park, Bradford Road, BA2 5BZ. Mowlberry Beak will be roosting outside the Mulberry Park Marketing Suite on Bradford Road, just next to the roundabout, opposite the Forester & Flower pub. He will be outside 10am to 5pm daily and visible through the window of the marketing suite at night. NB Switch the map to satellite mode (top right) to see the new road layout here.
