Kintsugi

About the owl Our Owlet is called ‘Kintsugi’ after the Japanese art of ‘Golden Rejoining’. We have been inspired by the idea that a cracked and mended vessel can still be beautiful and highly treasured. The breakage is part of the history of the object with all its cracks and flaws giving it a redemptive beauty. For people too, the brokenness of our past is an integral part of our unique story. We should not need to throw this away or cover it up but recognise where we have been, value the fractures, enabling us to transform our lives for a better future.

About the artist Genesis Trust Life Skills offers courses and workshops to people wo are struggling – this may be due to lonliness and isolation, mental health issues, addictions or low confidence. All of our courses are free and there are many different opportunities; both creative and practical. Ranging from creative writing, art, an IT drop-in, money management, cookery, food hygiene, music therapy, gardening and photography. Our hope is that those who engage with our courses see positive benefits on their health and well being and that the new skills acquired can be used as a step towards further training and employment.
