Jessie and Freya from Bradford on Avon

The Mexican-themed Frida Kahlo Fiesta in Bradford on Avon last weekend was inspired by the colourful Owls of Bath sculpture Frida Owlo.  The fun and salsa-filled event attracted hundreds of visitors to the historic Wiltshire town.

Young Kahlo fans took part in the excellent salsa classes and children of all ages enjoyed creating Frida Kahlo floral hair garlands and drawing their own owl designs with Frida Owlo sculpture artist, Bunny.

Pinata bashing was particularly popular and extra space had to be cleared to make way for the more exuberant participants..

The Minerva’s Owls of Bath stall with posters of the flock, mugs and mini-owls proved popular and the level of knowledge about the Minerva’s Owls sculptures on the trail was incredible!  Owl fans of all ages knew every owl’s name and location and they were determined to track down every member of the owl ‘parliament’ before the end of the trail on 10th September.

Visitors from around the world attended the Fiesta, with several from Spain and Australia saying it was one of the loveliest events they had ever been to!

Congratulations to James at The Swan Hotel and the Bradford on Avon team for organising the event and to Frida Owlo artist Bunny for creating her ‘Frida Kahlo’ inspired owl sculpture and for hosting the Kahlo garland and drawing activities.
