Visitors flocking to Bath this week have been in for an unexpected surprise, as they stumbled upon artist Emma Taylor producing some exquisite art in the sunshine outside Abbey Hotel. The Bath-based artist has been chosen by the hotel, home to ArtBar, Igloo events space, and the Allium Resturant, to design and decorate ARTIS, their Minerva’s Owl statue which will be perched pride of place outside the stunning Georgian hotel, throughout the duration of the sculpture trail from 25th June – 10th September.

The hotel’s prominent position on North Parade, next to the world famous Bath Abbey, meant that the week’s decorating activities got lots of attention for both locals and tourists alike!

Abbey Hotel prides itself on its eclectic collection of artworks which can be found throughout the rooms, restaurant and aptly named ArtBar. The pieces have all been sourced specifically for the hotel and include works from students at Bath Spa University, as well as others that have been lent by local artists. This enthusiasm for visual art and support of regional designers, makes us even more excited to have the hotel as a sponsor for this year’s sculpture trail and with the promise of lots of fun drinks events and creative promotions to come over the course of the three month event, they’ll be lots of excuses to pop over to visit ARTIS when she has been completed!
